Research presentation by M.Sc. student Ben Botzer during TAU IE Seminar at 17.6.2025 about
“TutorBotz: A GenAI Tool For Teachers To Program Social Robots as Teachers Assistants”.
Abstract: Classrooms today face increasing student-to-teacher ratios, leaving educators with limited resources to manage diverse learning needs. Although recent advances in Generative AI and social robotics offer promising support, many teachers lack the technical expertise to harness these tools effectively. TutorBotz is a new GenAI system developed using OpenAI’s models such as GPT-4o, designed to be an easy, simple, and user-centric system for teachers to program social robots as teacher assistants based on a teacher-in-the-loop approach. We performed a usability test on the system with teachers and students from Elementary and middle school to understand whether teachers with no programming background can “program” a social robot to be their TA to their satisfaction. This system is the basis for GenAI Robot Apps (GAIRA) to be developed in the future.
Bio: Ben Botzer is an M.Sc. student in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Tel Aviv University, conducting his research under the supervision of Prof. Goren Gordon and Dr. Michal Gordon from HIT. In his research, Ben developed a new GenAI tool for teachers to program robots to be their teacher assistant.
